I feel like I should apologise for putting myself forward for another Community 365 so close to my previous, but having seen Bil’s picture yesterday, I was thinking of my Photowalk trip out to sea defences in the Thames Estuary. The Maunsell Forts are armed towers built in the Thames and Mersey estuaries during the Second World War to help defend the United Kingdom. They were operated as army and navy forts, and named after their designer, Guy Maunsell. You can only reach them by boat and they’re nine miles out toward France. As you approach, you see these incredible structures, which look like the walking AT-ATs in Star Wars, just stepping through the water as if they can walk upon it. I was equally taken by the similarity to Bil’s wonderful deep impactful black and white from yesterday.
