#206 ONE PERSON CRYING: WOMEN AND WAR

Marissa Roth, a Pulitzer prize winning photographer with the LA Times tells the story of how women in numerous countries and cultures have been directly affected by war and its aftermath. It's a project that has consumed Marissa's photographic thoughts for thirty five years. Hear how it started and then how she eventually found closure. Marissa also talks about her love of the ocean and a love story that's connected with The Queen Mary. Plus there’s a reference to a Contax camera made that introduces an interesting thought about what our cameras are or can mean to us as photographers.

Our thanks to MPB.com for being our sponsor and on that note here’s a message from April Eaton Brown spied in the Facebook group; “MPB,” says April (shaking her head in brackets), “Neale James, what have you done? Last year on your advice I started to pick up my latest kit (adding to my Canon kit). I purchased a used Sony A7Riv. A big change for me as I have been a Canon shooter since 1982. Well of course I needed some lenses, so I have since purchased a 135, 200-600, 55, 12-24, 85 and 35. Do I need more? Thank you for your advice! I have spent a LOT of money, but I have also saved a LOT of money with MPB. Every item has been fantastic and I have zero complaints. I started a project in March called #lifebefore8am inspired by the ‘Leaving and Waving’ episode. I am enjoying the 12mm to capture these snaps; three cats and a dog that I love daily. No idea what I will do with these, but I love waking up with my cameras. I have enjoyed following others on this page.”

April is one of our patrons and so today, I’m ‘awarding’ her Patron of the Day for all kinds of reasons, not least services to the circular economy! Find April’s Insta @suttonmaismyhome
