#208 PHOTOGRAPHERS DON’T TAKE SIDES, THEY TAKE PICTURES

Today, two guests. An introduction to Marc Wilson about a Kickstarter project to make a book about the those who lived through, survived, or lost their lives as a result of the holocaust. It’s a story photographed in a manner that approaches this subject in a unique quiet way. The continuation and full interview will be aired next Monday 5th April, episode 211.

Our focused interview today is with Thomas Kelly, a picture desk editor and television producer, who worked on the RTÉ documentary which studied the experiences of the incredibly brave local and regional newspaper photographers who found themselves unexpectedly photographing conflict on the streets, recording events unfolding during The Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Today's show is supported by MPB.com, the number one platform for buying, selling and trading used camera gear in Europe, the UK and the US. Quality used gear is a way of driving the circular economy and of course this makes it a sustainable way to shop too.

Our Patron of the day is Jens Rhode who wrote; “Hi Neale, I would like to submit my Instagram profile and hope you will give it a mention. I am properly doing everything wrong in the context of building a following; posting at irregular intervals and genre wise I'm all over the place, 😂 but I don’t do this for a living so I do, as I please. And as it happens, my main driver for my photography is to enjoy myself, while I'm out with the camera.

Also, Studio Ninja have an offer for our listeners in March. They are an end-to-end client management software designed for professional photographers, it takes less than 30 minutes to set up and then you’ve got everything in one place, diaries, workflow, address book, invoicing, even e-signed contracts and you get 50% off your first year of use, by entering the code PHOTODAILY50 when you go the Studio Ninja website.
