I took today off from work. My husband and I were meant to go east to do a hike through the bush (NZ's version of forest/woods) at the Hunua Ranges. But it was still raining and we thought the hiking trail, which can be quite steep, would be too slippery and unsafe. So, we turned west instead and decided to explore the Awhitu Peninsula. The Western Coastline of NZ is exposed to the Tasman sea and it gets rough. But rough on the beach is generally nicer than sliding down treks in the muddy bush.
