#258 PHOTOWALK: STUMBLING INTO A WEAPONS ESTABLISHMENT & URBEX NORDIC STYLE

It's the photography show of the week that takes a walk with a mailbag and makes photos. This week we focus upon urban exploration with special guests Kimmo and Tanja from Abandoned Nordic. We reveal the lowest trick in advertising photography, we remember our parents' cameras, we launch the new 365 feature, hear about a photographer who has been exploring a part of China that was raised to the ground during the 2008 earthquake, tackle imposter syndrome and ask why we place so many walls around us when it comes to challenges as photographers. We also receive wise words and inspiration from former guests Karah Mew on finding a surprise chest of vintage photos, Misan Harriman on confidence and Nicky Heppenstall.

We’re supported by MPB.com who help you buy, sell and trade used camera gear in the US, the UK and Europe and I think it’s important to add that it’s a service I personally use. But today, don’t just take my word for it, here’s a few more words from Jan Erik Mostrom who is a definite friend of the show but knows what he wants when it comes to kit; “Neale I just want to say thank you (again) for bringing MPB to my attention, I traded some kit through them before, bought two cheaper cameras and a lens. But a couple of weeks ago I sent in all my Nikon F gear to trade for some Nikon Z gear. I expected to pay about 300 Euros once everything was done but they upgraded the condition of most of my gear and I got money from them instead. Thanks again for introducing me to MPB.com

And hearty thanks and appreciation to usbmemorydirect.com who have also showed some faith in our photographydaily community to make these shows. They specialize in creating custom USB flash drives. Fifty styles of flash drives in various shapes, sizes, and materials, all able to be customized with your logo. Add your branding to custom USBs, creating a valuable promotional product for your client to keep for years to come and for our listeners in the US and Canada, use the code “FLASH15” to receive 15% off your first order of custom flash drives when you visit their website.and usbmemorydirect.com.

The Fry’s chocolate company advertising, including ‘Five Boys,’ the photographic advert made in the late 1800s with dubious practice, as per the show reference today.

The various forms of Kodak Instamatics available, reminded by Graeme Trowman.

Kimmo in the interview about URBEX talked about visiting the abandoned Soviet space shuttle project hanger. This film is one of a few featuring explorers who have managed to get within the guarded hanger!
