#202 MAKING YOUR PHOTOBOOK PILGRIMAGE

Today two guests, Angelika Schneider who has been walking the trails of the Camino in Europe, and Ayaz Ali who joined millions of pilgrims for what is described as the world’s largest peaceful gathering in Iraq. Both photographers have made books to commemorate their personal journeys to share with a wider audience and talk of how their personal pilgrimages have benefitted their photographic eye.

Angelika Schneider’s limited edition book, The Beauty of the Camino, is a beautifully designed project in black and white with words by her walking companion Johnnie Walker.

Arbaeen, A Lens into a Sacred Journey is a predominantly colourful document into a journey made by millions of people from around the world which ends at Karbala, pictures by Ayaz Ali and words by Saarah Bokhari.

FURTHER REFERENCE: Camino Pilgrim, a UK association with practical information about the Camino and routes, Camino Facebook group and Saarah Bokhari.

A hearty thank you to our Patrons who help keep the wheels spinning on the show. Today I’d like to introduce to Jens Rhode, a self titled ‘Danish Dude with a camera’ whose language of photography which I’ll share by including his Instagram in the show notes today feels quietly inquisitive, with an emphasis on shape and form.

It’s been good to get positive feedback from some of our patrons and listeners about our sponsor MPB too. Good because it means you’re enjoying being part of the best way to buy, sell and trade used camera gear across the US, the UK and Europe. Jan Erik Mostrom reached out to say thanks for pointing him to MPB, because; “Look,” he says, “I got me a second flash so I can start playing with a bit more advanced lighting setups and I actually earned money getting it. I sold a compact camera that I hadn't used for several years. Now I have more money in my account plus a flash.”
