#34 THE PORTRAIT PER DAY MAN: EMBRACING NO!

Initially he started to make street portraits as a method to aid his recovery from depression, chronic stress and anxiety. Portrait per Day has now been featured by the BBC and UK Council for Psychotherapy.

No. It’s not a comfortable word is it?

John Mannell has captured the imagination and support of many creatives who embrace photography for therapeutic and mindfulness reasons. John has had to live with that word during what was for him, an enormous photographic undertaking. If you want to essentially make pictures of complete strangers, then rejection will always be an element of your creative existence.

Today’s Snapshot edition chat with John is the first of a few visits to hear him talk on this subject. His fascinating project Portrait Per Day, is a study in itself of people, although not just the people you see in the photographs, but of John, part construction professional, part photographer, a whole lot of drive, but it didn’t come easy.
