#28 SURVIVING THESE TIMES & NEW STARTS

The last four months have been somewhat of a rollercoaster ride haven’t they? Perhaps I’m addressing professional photographers today who head in hands have wondered how to restart their business or just wished for normal to return. But I want to share a little of myself this Monday morning, bare a little of my soul, be honest with you and share how I think I can emerge from this. What I did in the past, what I’m doing now.

Now is the time as professional photographers or film makers or image makers, that we need to take the ideas and knowledge that underpinned the way we worked so few as four months ago, and act as if it were the first day of our new business, not the last knockings of what used to be, during a time called normal. I’m beginning to understand, even though it’s uncomfortable, that I’ve become once again, a start up. Did I want to start up? Hell no. Course not. My photography business was quieter, but it was still ticking. But this new start up time, uninvited granted, does bring a few benefits. With some help from photographer friends that’s what today’s episode is about.

Today’s guest puts her greatest achievement down to just surviving as she suggests at the head of the episode, although as you’re about to find out today, she is so much more than a survivor. Amelia is what I would call an honest story teller, an ideas merchant and someone genuinely interested in other people. This is the first of several parts talking with the British photojournalist, Amelia Troubridge.
