#166 DON’T FOLLOW THE ‘SHOULDAS’ IN 2021: BE YOU!

For those a little sluggish from the rich holiday banquets, left overs and reheated left overs of left overs, plus of course the mountains of chocolate or candy, we commence our lead up to a new year with plenty of energy, and who better to do that, than LA portrait, actor and celeb photographer Bjoern Kommerell, the self titled ‘Mad German’ for the concluding part of his story on photographing and filming people in the studio. Bjoern also discusses his headshots business and the growing interest in his ‘recession busting’ self taping product for actors. Further reference to audition films discussed in the show are below.

Thank you to our fantastic Patreon members and today’s Patron of the day is Tim Bindner who photographs out of Indiana and beyond. Hiking and nature provides the perfect backdrop for Tim, which along with his beloved Fujifilm cameras, he says, eases anxiety and stress. He shares his adventures at timothybme.com and no doubt we’ll talk more about Tim in the weeks and months to come sharing further links, but for the moment, if you get a chance, check out his ‘Journeys through life posts’ which he updates reasonably regularly to get a full picture of Tim the photographer. For Patreon members, 2021 will bring you two posts and/or bonus short editions a week including some behind the scenes video and ask anything features. Lots to come.

New Year on the way and I know there are people who are changing the way they look at photography, some leaving the industry and interestingly many joining. There’ll be many who take up the interest over this holiday and so are beginning to get into the kit side of stuff, so today's show is also supported by the camera professional people, MPB.com, the number one platform for buying, selling and trading used gear in the States and Europe. It's important that you know I trust these people myself as a working professional. I want my kit to just work when I need it to, to be of a standard that my paying customers would expect. If I buy used, it's because I know there is quality checked kit that will work as well as the products I buy new from a shelf - and I know that this is a sustainable way to buy and I love that I've driving the circular economy too. If you are thinking of changing up, trading, trying something new, or even selling some stuff you don’t use to free up cash be sure to visit MPB.
